That’s it for another year, Vendex North 24 is over. I expect that Phil and Jenny are taking a moment or two off from planning the next one, Vendex Midlands, but they are doing so knowing that the next show will also be a cracker – and last time I heard it was nearly full.
Phil has been in touch with his thoughts and those of a number of exhibitors and visitors. It is one thing being full, but if the exhibitors aren’t happy and the visitors go away dissatisfied, then its all for nothing. This is why we always like to hear from as many as possible – feedback is essential so that Phil and Jenny can continue doing what they are doing and can also move forward.

‘I promised you some words after Vendex so here goes’. said Phil ‘First, from me, what a success Vendex North was! Held recently at the Centenery Pavillion, Leeds United Football Club it was the biggest Vendex to date with one hundred and thirty exhibition stands filling the Pavillion!
Now rather than me spout off about how good it was, I will let some of our exhibitors and visitors do the talking. The show was a resounding success as told by our valued exhibitors and visitors.

From my point of view, it was looking good from the moment I arrived at the venue, it was 1 minute past 10 and the queue to pick up badges was out the door. As a traveller from out of the country you can’t imagine how relieved I was that it was not only mild but dry… There was a buzz as soon as we got into the show, I made for the Evoca stand immediately as they have arguably the best coffee on offer and there was a choice when I got there from their raft of new machines. A cortado, as perfectly created as if from a high end coffee shop. A few moments chat and suitably refreshed, I set off again with PV’s Technical Director, Ian Maguire, in tow.
I met with with most of my list of ‘must sees’, those from our lengthening list from the ever popular PV Spotlight on Vendex. But, and I regret this, I just didn’t get round to everyone… so, I apologise to the few I missed but honestly the show was so busy with some top quality visitors that I didn’t feel I could muscle in on the exhibitors if there were operators around.
I spotted all the usual suspects, Johnny Broderick holding court on several stands, The Macdonalds from Excel Vending, Diane Hunter from Apple Vending, Kelly Pugh from City Vending Services, Ross and the team from Uptons, plus many many others. Vendex North is truly the show to go to if you want to be seen by the top operators.
I called into see the team from SB Software who gave me a demo of the new web based interface, looks like a game changer and several leaps forward for all existing SB Software clients plus new of course. I understand that new business was written at the show… great stuff. I was also treated to a demo of the game changing Smart Store by Marketing Head, Elyssa Steiner. For sure the combining of systems and talents of Cantaloupe and SB Software is set to make some big changes to the way they do business so expect great things from them both going forward.
How many new canned drinks are emerging into the vending and micromarket sector? Flavoured water from wonky fruit, sparkling lemonade, protein drinks, energy drinks, more energy drinks, milkshakes, you name it. Some of these have been talking to us at Planet Vending to help them raise their profile within the sector, it’s how they are going to get themselves on the spirals and shelves, and in the warehouses of vending’s favourite wholesaler. The Spotlight on Vendex North 24 was the first step for many, and now that Vendex is over, we’re ready for their follow up stories. Did they meet the right people? We’re still here for you.
