The EVA

The EVA market report shows growth is slowing.

The EVA has announced the publication of its latest Vending & Office Coffee Service (OCS) Market Report, covering data up to the end of 2024 and it shows that market growth is slowing.

On a European level, the machine fieldbase and total vends have shown very little growth compared to the previous year, but revenue is continuing to rise. It’s also worth that a clear change in the overall breakdown of machines placed in the workplace, dropping to 70% from 80% pre-pandemic. This provides concrete proof that machine operators are diversifying their sites in order to compensate for the decrease in footfall which is the result of partial home working by office staff.

Of the Tier 1 ‘Big 6’ countries, the Italian market appears to be in decline. Reductions have been reported in machine fieldbase, consumption and in overall revenue. Indeed, in the latter criterion, Italy is the only market among the 24 covered in the report that saw a drop in product revenue (-2.9%). This is despite the general trend to compensate consumption reductions by price increases. Having said that, Italy remains by far the market with the largest number of machines (809,000).

France overtakes Germany as the biggest market in terms of total product revenue, with €3.69 billion. With regards to consumption, the Netherlands as a primarily OCS market remains at the top, totalling 5.66 billion vends.

The report covers the market position up to the end of 2024; but taking into consideration the adverse economic headwinds we’ve seen since the start of 2025, the new figures may point to the beginning of a more general slowing down of the vending market. The main concern is that the slowdown could morph into a more general stagnation of the industry in the coming years.

The EVA market report: some selected findings

  • The total number of machines across Europe remains at 5 million
  • Number of vends stands at 5 billion
  • Total industry revenue is €26.4 billion
  • Micro-markets and smart fridges continue to grow rapidly with a repective 15% and 95% increase since the last report
  • Across Europe cashless payment systems are now fitted to 85% of the pay vend fieldbase
