Vendon Sales Manager Jānis Kuģenieks discusses the demands of modern vending.
In the UK, offering cashless payment facilities is no longer an option. Indeed, for many operators, they already represent close to 100% of sales. From the outside, everything looks straightforward: tap, pay, move on – but the comments I hear more often these days are all about what happens next…
Once everything becomes cashless, the number of transactions increases. But, there is a ‘but’. More transactions invariably mean more refunds, more customer questions, and more cases that need to be checked or explained. Nothing dramatic, just small, everyday situations but add them all up and you’ll find that all these ‘mores’ take up more of that priceless commodity: time.
Time switching between systems. Time checking transactions in one place and confirming the details in another. Time trying to piece together what actually happened. Sure, it works – but not always as clearly or as efficiently as you’d like.
It’s no longer about adding more payment options, it’s about managing what already exists.
That’s why an operator’s focus is starting to shift. It’s no longer about adding more payment options, it’s about managing what already exists in a simpler, more structured way. Transactions, refunds, app payments: why can’t they all be visible and manageable without a constant back-and-forth between platforms?
At Vendon, this is exactly what we’ve been working on and with Vendon Cloud: you can bring payments and machine data into one place, while still connecting with external systems and payment providers through APIs. Some operators use our contactless readers, others don’t. Either way, the goal remains the same: a unified view.
The idea itself is neither complex nor new. It’s about reducing friction in daily operations.
We’ll explore this further in our upcoming Vendon Cloud Live Session III: Payment Ecosystem. During this free event, I will demonstrate clearly how payments and refunds can be managed centrally, without unnecessary complexity. If you have 30 minutes to spare on Wednesday 29 April, between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm, register here to participate:
The following week, we’ll be continuing the conversation in person on our stand (155, Hall 1.) at Venditalia in Rimini, together with our colleagues from Coges. Together, our aim is to show you how payments and telemetry are increasingly coming together into one system – and the benefits that brings to you, the operator.
‘Going cashless’ is no longer the challenge. The question now is ‘how can we make cashless transactions easier- and less time-consuming – to manage?’
So, let’s make a date (or two!)
- The Vendon Cloud Live Session III takes place on Wednesday, 29 April, 3pm – 3:30. Register here.
- Venditalia takes place between 6-8 May at the Rimini Expo Centre, Italy. You’ll find us on Stand 155, in Hall 1. For more info on Venditalia and to book your tickets, click here.
