Pringles Minis are One of Vending’s All-Time Success Stories

Pringles Minis were developed with vending in mind.  The UK’s operators, who know an opportunity when they see one, made the most of this unique product and before we knew it, sales had confounded all our expectations.

ARN, the popular vending wholesaler, mentioned the product in its blog: ‘Advance orders surprised us all in terms of the sheer volume of bags. We accepted pre-orders for 4,218 cases of Pringles Minis Original and Sour Cream & Onion.’

Why did it make such an impact? Needless to say, it’s a great tasting product and the 40g bags were the perfect fit for the nation’s spirals. But there was more to it than that. Consumers were delighted to find a product they instantly recognised in conveniently located machines, in a package that was perfectly designed for enjoyment on the go. The number of bags that were bought on impulse surprised everybody and as word of Pringles Minis availability in vending machines spread, new customers were attracted to the channel to buy this popular savoury snack.

What’s more, buying Pringles Minis was easy. There were numerous opportunities to grab a bag: travelling, (on railway station platforms, bus depots and airport terminals, for instance); in hospital waiting rooms and at all manner of leisure locations. In short, suddenly Pringles, in their Minis version, were available in many locations across the UK.

Talk about ‘mutually beneficial’! It was a marriage made in heaven between the nation’s vending operators and the manufacturer: the former were able to present consumers with an enhanced snack offer whilst the brand was exposed to new consumption occasions that were beyond the reach of traditional retail outlets.

With Pringles Minis, the company demonstrated their commitment to – and their faith in – the vending channel. It was the start of Pringles’ long-term ambition to grow within the sector, with the added benefit of a 12-month shelf life.

You’ll find us, Kellanova, the manufacturers of Pringles Minis, at Vendex North at Doncaster Racecourse on 11 November. We’ll be on Stand 44, where our team will have samples galore for you to enjoy while they fill you in on how we plan to build on one of vending’s all-time success stories.
