FBC are back at Vendex and this time, ‘we’re on a mission!’
…says Adam O’Brien
Hello again
Vendex is just around the corner and rest assured, FBC UK (Fox’s Burtons Companies) will be there. Our Stand, 149, will be packed with products that you – and your customers! – know and trust including Maryland Cookies, Fish N Chips and Giant Jammie Dodgers.
Alongside them will be our latest vending smash hit. When we introduced Nerds, a unique product that was enjoying huge success in the US, we had just two operators who were placing regular orders. Then, because others noticed the success and wanted a part of it for themselves, the product began to grow steadily in the marketplace, particularly in shopping centres, further education establishments and airports.
In a sector populated by household name products, Nerds entered the RSV charts at Number 8. With over £30m in sales in the past year, it’s ahead of both Mentos and Fruit-tella – from a standing start. And by the way, this makes Nerds the Number One in terms of growth and the fastest growing year-on-year product in the sector.
Clearly, Nerds Gummy Clusters has established itself as a proven product in the nation’s spirals; so much so that we concluded the time was right to introduce another exciting variety to UK consumers.
Enter Nerds Cherry Lemonade Gummy Clusters. It made an immediate impact in the retail sector. In fact, it’s Tesco’s No.1 Sugar NPD this year, delivering over £1.4M in its first 17 weeks on the shelves. There are other impressive stats to go with these and I’ll share them all with you when you drop by at Vendex. At the same time, I hope you’ll do a couple of things for me. Firstly, I want you to try them for yourself. They’re tangy and crunchy on the outside, sweet and gummy on the inside. All in all, a truly mouth-popping experience. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll be sold.
Secondly, I’d like you to commit to giving Cherry Lemonade a go in your vending machines.
The success of Cherry Lemonade in retail has not come at the expense of sales of the original Gummy Clusters, it’s simply added additional impetus to the brand and I’m sure it’ll have the same impact in vending.
The vast majority of the industry’s Gummy Clusters supplies go through our friends at ARN as you know – and there’s nothing I’d like better than to be able to show the bosses in the north-east that I have a swathe of customers eager and willing to give them a try…
So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me to help ARN decide to add Cherry Lemonade to their listings, making it easy for the industry to build on the success of Gummy Clusters by introducing a new and exciting variant.
To oil the wheels, we’ve done what we can to help ARN achieve another day of bumper sales. As you know, their Vendex Deals on the Day have been madly successful, so for Doncaster, we’ve partnered with them to offer some unrepeatable offers on Maryland Cookies, Fish N Chips and Giant Jammie Dodgers.
It’s all exciting stuff! See you at the races on 11 November, on Stand 149.
Until then, bye for now
Adam O’Brien.
