Despite last year’s move from St.Helen’s to larger premises in Chester and the company’s subsequent rebranding, Barry Callebaut Beverages UK has improved its customer service by taking a rigorous approach to training – and, having reaped considerable benefits in-house, the company has decided to ‘roll it out’ to customers.

Consequently, industry expert Phil Millard of BlueStorm Development led an initial training session, which was attended by key Barry Callebaut vending customers and covered an array of topics, comprising finding new customers, launching new ranges; selling more products and building rapport with customers by improving and enhancing service.
Head of Sales for Barry Callebaut in the UK is Paula Bentley. She told PV, ‘we want to demonstrate clearly that we understand our customers’ issues and opportunities by doing all we can to support them. They need to be confident that their sales of our products will be strong before they buy from us and, of course, if improved training helps them to sell more of our products, everyone’s a winner.’
‘We’ve worked with Barry Callebaut in the past and recognise it as an innovative company’, Phil Millard said. ‘Investing in customer training establishes Barry Callebaut as a forward-thinking leader in our industry and it brings within reach the goal of selling more products at the same time as improving customer relations.’
This latest activity at Barry Callebaut comes on the heels of ‘Getting More Done’, BlueStorm’s training programme for senior managers, which concentrates on time management and productivity. ‘We’re building quite a track record of achievement’, Phil said. ‘We set out as a company to help vending operators grow, by showing them how to increase sales whilst enhancing profitability and I’m delighted to report that that’s just what we’re doing.’
