The Brew-It Group brings its contemporary approach to traditional espresso machines – and all that goes with them – to Vendex North

Traditional coffee machines? Oo-er…

It’s not long since vending operators wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. If not ‘asking for trouble’, selling them was, at the very least, opening the door to a whole host of time-consuming complications. For starters, the manufacturers of ‘trad’ machines sold them with strings attached, most notably long-term service contracts. And compared with table-top models, trad machines were complicated. End user employees needed specific training to keep them performing and staff turnover being what it is, operators were spending more time dealing with the fallout than profit margins could justify.

All of which is bad enough; but as an operator, if you got a sniff of a big order, it wasn’t unheard of for the manufacturer to turn a blind eye to ethics and go ahead and do a deal directly with your customer.

Does that still happen? Maybe, but not when you deal with The Brew-It Group.

The MD of the Chesterfield based business, (which has a prestigious showroom at the Business Design Centre in London’s Islington) is Marc Loveridge. ‘We know that for companies whose background and expertise is in vending, offering traditional coffee machines for sale can be a scary path to take’, he says. ‘They hold their hands up and say ‘hey, we don’t really know what we’re doing’. That said, they’ve identified that, by adding another string to their bow, they can potentially open up a whole new channel of sales opportunities; so what we’ve found is that they appreciate a lot of ‘hand-holding’ until they feel comfortable in the environment.’

It’s an approach that has paid off: with several leading vending operators now in their client roster and against the background of the rising expectations of an increasingly discerning and demanding consumer, The Brew-It Group are bringing their expertise – and their offer – to Vendex.

The Brew-It GroupExpect to see some interesting kit on Stand 5, where The Brew-It Group will hold court at Doncaster Racecourse. The star of the show will be a La Spaziale traditional espresso machine but there’s a strong supporting cast; including the Ceado WAM Grinder, (which essentially means grind each coffee dose by weight); Puqpress electronic tamps (which guarantee consistency in espresso extraction); and The Perfect Moose automatic milk-foaming system, which Marc describes as ‘a safe pair of hands to deliver steaming milk to your specification time after time’.

‘The Brew-It Group message to delegates at Vendex is a straightforward one’, Marc says. ‘If you have, or if you’d like to have a whole-bean offer for your customers and you need a bit of expert guidance in navigating the world of ‘traditional’ coffee equipment, the Brew-It Group can provide you, your sales team and your engineers with the training they need to be able to approach a new marketplace with confidence. On the other hand, if you already know what you’re doing, we can supply you with equipment from some of the industry’s most successful manufacturers – with no contractual ‘strings’ attached.’
