Livewell Vending reaches a milestone this month, celebrating 20 years in business. Not one to rest on his laurels, the company’s founder and director Aaron Prout is marking the occasion with a rather different sort of milestone – or should that be ‘millstone’?!
This Sunday, Aaron will line up for the BMW Berlin Marathon and as you’d expect, he won’t be going in cold… After completing 12 weeks of training and around 500km in preparation for the event, he’s in optimum shape for the challenge.
In fact, Berlin will be the Livewell Vending boss’s second Abbott World Marathon Major. He’s already got the London Marathon under his belt. What’s more, his efforts won’t be ending in the shadows of the Brandenburg Gate: In March 2027, he’ll be lining up outside the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku ready to take on his third challenge, The Tokyo Marathon. Securing a place in this iconic event is an achievement in itself – it’s one of the most sought-after races in the world.
And yes, you’ve guessed it: he’s not putting himself through this physical ordeal for nothing – after all, everybody knows that Yorkshiremen don’t do owt for nowt! In fact, Aaron is using the two-marathon challenge to raise £4,750 for Save the Children.
‘Livewell Vending has been part of the vending industry for 20 years this month’, Aaron said, ‘so it would be fantastic if friends, customers, suppliers and colleagues I’ve got to know through the industry over those years could get behind this fundraising. effort. I’ve put 500km of training into the bank just to get to the Berlin start line, so hopefully we can turn some of those miles into money in the bank for a really worthwhile cause.’
So come on, ladies and gentlemen of the vending trade. Get behind this gargantuan effort and let’s ease Aaron’s aches and pain by putting our hands in our pockets. As the man said, it’s for a good cause…
