‘People demand choice and it’s our plan to give the Stansted passengers exactly that’, says Broderick’s MD John Broderick.
Broderick’s, acknowledged in the VIA (Vending Industry Awards) as both Britain’s best regional and best national operator, has added Stansted Airport to its burgeoning portfolio of blue-chip clients.
Stansted is home to a number of major European low-cost carriers, and is the largest base for low-cost airline Ryanair, which serves over 100 destinations from the growing Essex gateway. In 2012 it was the fourth busiest airport in the United Kingdom after Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. The airport is one of four owned by the Manchester Airports Group, (MAG).
Stansted Airport has one main passenger terminal and three passenger satellites in which the departure gates are situated. One is connected to the main terminal by an air-bridge and the other two by the Stansted Airport Transit System people mover.
Broderick’s expansion into Stansted is the forerunner of further installations in the airports at East Midlands and Bournemouth and it reflects both the company’s runaway success at Manchester Airport and MAG’s faith in the family-run vending independent.
Stansted passengers are now enjoying touch screen technologies, machine combinations that are capable of dispensing multiple purchase ‘meals deals’ and payment systems that can accept sterling and euro notes in addition to coins.

Significantly, the new installation takes the audience for advertising on Broderick’s game-changing on-screen media over the 50m threshold for the first time, providing brand managers with an opportunity that dwarfs the coverage provided by most UK TV channels.
MD John Broderick is understandably bullish about the future, but for now he’s focused on the benefits being enjoyed by Stansted passengers as a consequence of the introduction of state-of-the-art vending technology.
‘Modern vending is about giving consumers more choice’, John said. ‘Long gone are the days of huge vending companies dictating to customers with their inflexible planograms and their ‘take it or leave it’ attitudes. People demand choice it’s our plan to give the Stansted passengers exactly that, not just in terms of product selection, but also in the variety of payment methods that are open to them.’
