ARN’s Ones to Watch 12
Hello again
I’m dictating my latest epistle to the good people of UK vending at the same time as I try to get my act together in time to attend the AVS conference in Dubrovnik.
Ah, Dubrovnik! Shall I go on the ultimate Game of Thrones tour? Dubrovnik was chosen as the filming location for most of the exterior scenes of King’s Landing. The Fortress of St Lawrence is the on-screen Red Keep, the home of Queen Cersei of house Lannister. Then there are the locations you’d recognise from the Purple Wedding, the farewell of Myrcella, the riot in King’s Landing and of course, the Walk of Shame. Finally, I could sit on the Iron Throne like a true Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. Which would be a leg-up, even from this job!
None of that will happen of course, because, as many of you would testify, I never allow my attention to be diverted from the serious business of leading the UK’s favourite vending wholesaler…
ARN’s Ones to Watch 12
On the plane with me will be Richard Lothian, he of Tayto, who is working his, er, rocks off to provide us – and therefore you, our valued customers – with a viable alternative in the vibrant crisps sector.
Golden Wonder crisps are one of my ones to watch this month. We’re offering Rough Cuts, in 47.5 g packets, at £12.49 a case, which I’m pretty sure is the best deal available anywhere. There’s a deal on their standard crisps, too. They come in 32.5g packs and you can get 3 cases for £30. Need I say more?
While I’m at it, a couple of interesting facts. Golden Wonder Spring Onion flavour crisps are hugely popular in Scotland. Who knows why? (Answers on a post card, please). And in time for the summer there’s a new flavour, ‘Chip Shop Curry’. The good people at Tayto are really adept at coming up with (apparently!) random Golden Wonder flavours that hit the spot with consumers, and I reckon this is another one that’s going to do the business through the spirals.
And while I’m thinking about crisps (and whether or not I’ve packed enough pants), we also have a veritable crunch of a deal with Kettle Brand Potato Chips. The market-leading hand-cut crisp brand can be yours, at £5.99 for a case of eighteen 40 g, packs, which – although I say it myself – is a really good price for a genuinely premium product.
ARN’s Ones to Watch 12 : Meanwhile, to quote an old song that I learned at my granddad’s knee, ‘the taxi’s waiting, he’s blowing his horn’ and very soon, I’ll be ‘leaving on a jet plane’. My final thought: can somebody let me know where I might pick up a few pairs of pants in Dubrovnik, if needs be?
Well, that’s it for ARN’s Ones to Watch 12, look out for more ‘Ones to Watch’ next month. If I get back from the AVS do in one piece…
See you next time, meanwhile… Gan Canny
