Remember the bad old days of print when you had to submit your AVEX preview in sometime in March?
Our Twitter feed has been in overdrive today with real-time up-dates from the floor of the exhibition hall. The pictures capture the chaos of ‘the day before the show’ and already the re-tweets are spreading the word about the new kit that’ll soon be unveiled to the world, now that AVEX is in town.
On top of that, we’ve just had a shout-out from Ian Johnston of Coffetek, asking us to pass on a message or two and, in keeping with today’s spirit of spontaneity, We said, ‘ok’, so here goes.
The first thing he said – and we think we might have misheard – was ‘it would be nice to play on the eve before AVEX.’ Now, we have no idea what he has in mind and we’re not about to ask him. But Ian, if you’re referring to a musical instrument, then why not join me at my regular music session, Monday Night At Nine, at The Oddfellows Arms in Middleton, M24 2LD. It starts, er… at nine. Takes about 15 minutes to drive there from the city centre. Or get a 59 bus.
I’ll be there with my guitar and some of my muso mates, so if you fancy an evening with an Irish music flavour (combined with a few scoops of John Willie Lees’ Best Bitter, free butties at half time and great craic), it’s just for you.
Meanwhile, here’s what else Ian had to say. ‘We’ll be previewing new products, including Vitro Fresh Milk, Vitro Max and the Neo Dual cup system’, he told us. Now we reckon that there’s enough right there to ensure every delegate makes a bee-line for the Coffetek stand but wait, there’s more:
‘Can you let your countless thousands of dedicated readers know that they’ve a chance of winning an Apple Watch when they visit our stand?’ he asked. And, as flattery can get you anywhere in our office, our response to him was, ‘our pleasure.’
It’s true: they’re going to have a wall on their stand where people will be encouraged to leave a, quote, ‘coffee quote.’ You know, something smart about coffee.
We think the idea is that you Tweet an image of Coffetek – presumably the stand, or a machine, or the back of Ian’s head – with the address @coffetek to be in with a chance of winning.
We’re not sure if it’s two watches up for grabs or one watch with two ways of grabbing it. Time will tell…
So think on, it’s never too late to get your AVEX preview onto Planet Vending. (Do you know, I’m already beginning to regret writing that sentence…)
