Europe’s leading vending operators had been looking forward to receiving a rather special e-mail from Vendman – an invitation to the second annual Vending Operator summit, at the Welcombe Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon.
However, this year they’ve received two invitations: the second the result of a last-minute decision to change the dates for vending’s best attended get-together.
‘As soon as the invitations went out, we realised that there was another vending event taking place on the same two days’ Vendman MD Rob Little told PV. ‘It’s another golf day and as it’s an inaugural event, hosted by a supplier who has already invested heavily, we really felt that it would be wrong to continue with the same dates. Not only that, but a number of our invited guests had already committed to attend the other event and such is the integrity of our customers and the industry, they too didn’t want to let down the other company. So, it made sense and the right thing for us to do was to change our dates.’
This year, the theme is ‘Integration’, there’s a touch of irony here that in a year of political ‘disintegration’ we should be discussing and championing the opposite, but talking to Rob it’s clear that it’s ‘business as usual’ despite the turmoil and he’s even more determined that his event is a success.
