PICTURED: In the habit of winning? L-R, Paul Hearne, Max Kemp and Andrew Jones celebrate last year’s success.
With six staff shortlisted for three awards, Express Vending will march into Manchester next week with something of a swagger.
After the company’s success in 2013, the Hemel Hempstead based vending operator is aiming even higher this time around. Nicola Honour, Anne Porter and Chris Bailey have been shortlisted in the category Route Operator of the Year, Scobie Thomas and Dave Rigby for Service Engineer of the Year and Shelly Dent in the Vending Supervisor of the Year category. Each individual’s nomination was supported by three customer testimonies and a letter of nomination from their line managers.
Express Vending’s Marketing Manager Andrew Jones is ‘delighted’, as well he might be, but he’s quick to stress that he feels the short-listings are ‘well deserved recognition for the team’. “The AVA Awards are the benchmark for excellence in the UK Vending Industry’, he told PV. ‘To achieve six shortlisted nominations is not only a reflection of the service we deliver to our customers, but also and more importantly, it’s a reflection of the outstanding contribution made by these individuals to the continuing success of Express Vending. Whatever the final result at the AVA Awards we are immensely proud of Nicola, Anne, Chris, Scobie, Dave and Shelly.’
But now, the hard part: each individual on the shortlist has to be interviewed by Jonathan Hilder, CEO of the AVA as part of the judging process. Er, good luck with that if JH enjoys interviewing as much as being interviewed!
*The winners will be announced next week at the AVA Awards dinner and PV will be FIRST AGAIN to ring you the vending news you need.
