Planet Vending will bring you all you need to know about Venditalia, direct from Fieramilanocity
It’s arguably the world’s most important vending event and PV is here!
Venditalia – 7th to 10th May, at Fieramilanocity, in Halls 2 and 4
Tuesday, 6 May, Milan
BY IAN REYNOLDS-YOUNG
According to the promoters, Venditalia 2014 (Fieramilanocity, 7-10 May 2014) ‘lays the foundation for asserting the start of economic recovery for the vending market worldwide.’ In other words, they reckon that this is the place to be if you want to see for yourself the green shoots of vending recovery.

They would say that, wouldn’t they? Except, the numbers seem to back up their assertions. Five months before the opening, 50% of the available space was booked and it was clear that Venditalia 2014 would host a number of significant ‘first time’ exhibitors. There are a lot of other numbers that you don’t really need to know, just trust us that this seems to be stacking up to be something rather special. And there are a lot of people about.
There’s definitely a buzz here as Venditalia flexes its muscles the day before opening; the feeling that Venditalia 9 will put the previous 8 events into the shade. Expectancy. (Or maybe that’s hope?)
Venditalia has always been a ‘must’ for all international operators in the vending industry, but now its drawing a wider audience. Suddenly, dare we say it,vending is ‘sexy’. Cashless, fully automated retailing is here. As they say where I come from, ‘who’d a thowt it?’ It’s just a shame that the nascent industry is stuck with the unflattering pigeon-holing that comes with the term ‘vending’.
Venditalia 9 ‘will present vending as one of the world’s most innovative channels of distribution of food & beverage and one of the most powerful tools to communicate the great issues on food.’ Who says so? Lucio Pinetti, President of Venditalia Servizi. That’s who.
Venditalia 2012 ended with 314 exhibitors from 25 countries worldwide, an increase of 16% compared to the previous edition; 150 accredited journalists and about 20,000 visitors.
Venditalia 2014 will re-write the record books and as you’d hope, Planet Vending will be there. We’ll be reporting on the stars of the show live from the Exhibition Hall and I’ll be posting a daily blog. (At least, that’s the plan).
