My Keurig! At last, a coffee machine I can work…

To be honest, I’d pretty much given up on ever making myself a ‘decent’ cup of coffee.

Y’see Ian, husband and partner in business, is a bit of a coffee connoisseur and loves to grind, tamp, froth, exclaim over the ‘crema’ and generally wax lyrical about the whole coffee making experience. He makes himself dozens of cups of coffee a week each one of which has to be examined, and drunk with relish. As for me, his ‘work of art’ might look pretty but is way too strong for my delicate ‘Earl Grey’ taste and the  little espresso machine we have is far too complicated and time consuming for me to enjoy playing with it. I did try to work it a few times, and gave up – I guess I just didn’t care enough.   Every now and again though, Ian will lower his sights and make me a weaker (not exactly weak though) cup of diluted espresso with milk and I can manage to enjoy it, but I am at his mercy!

Then, we met with Cevat Riza and Bob Norton of Seymour Valentine. They told us all about their new exciting deal where they have signed the master distribution agreement in the UK for Keurig and lo and behold a few weeks later a knock at the door and a big box is waiting for us. It’s a trial Keurig K140 brewer! Complete with sample K-Cups, the pods.

The Keurig, next to more ‘traditional’ refreshment systems!

Ten minutes later, the box is unwrapped (thanks guys – much use of scissors required!), water tank rinsed and filled, machine heated, and drinks dispensed.  We are drinking our first brews! Ian has a full mug of the Green Mountain Fair Trade certified Sumatran Reserve, Dark Roast (Extra Bold!), whilst I have wimped out and gone for the medium roast Kenyan AA, also Green Mountain. I can honestly say that I have never been so impressed by a gadget! Not only is the Keurig easy to use, the coffee is lovely and so far we have only sampled two. There are 17 types of drinks to start with but more will be coming in due course. I think the K140 would be perfect as a drinks solution in any office.

Using the Keurig was a joy, really just a few minutes after taking it out of the box to having a fantastic cup of coffee and no mess from spilled coffee grounds! I think I will now be waxing lyrical about My Keurig henceforth! (Please don’t take it away again Cevat and Bob!) I can see why people in the US are almost addicted to them. Have a look at the video I found.

I will still drink my Earl Grey (there are pods for tea too btw) but at least now I can make myself a cup of coffee that I can drink, any time I want without having to go to Barista school!

If you want one for your office or home, I’m sure the guys at Seymour Valentine would happily send you one. Talk to Nicola on  SV’s new Keurig Sales Channel Manager on 020 7231 2131 or email her at nicola@seymourvalentine.co.uk
