It’s almost Christmas… and we’re Looking for a Stocking Filler

The advent calendars have been pressed into service, the AVA Christmas shin-dig is days away… Can you help make Mike Blamey’s dreams come true?

An unusual request arrived at PV recently via our good pal Bob Allen, guv’nor at Allen Vending.

Bob Allen

Here’s the original request:

Dear Bob Allen,
I have an unusual request, but one you might be able to assist with?
I maintain good links with the Hagley Museum (the du Pont archive) based in Wilmington, Delaware, USA
They are trying to find a nylon stocking vending machine – all the rage at airports and train stations in the 50’s- for an exhibition to mark the 75th anniversary of the first announcement of Nylon by Du Pont. It occurs to me that as you are based in Nottingham, where such machines from the UK  may have been based, you might be the person to assist?

I send my best wishes and thanks for any guidance you may be able to offer
Mike Blamey

Bob replied:

Dear Mike,
Sorry I have no knowledge as to the stocking vending machine you refer to but if you contact planet-vending.com they may be able to assist. (They are a trade online magazine for the UK Vending market)

Good luck, kind Regards
Bob Allen

Stepping out, but can you help?

We reckon we’ve found an image of the machine in question, but it’s copyright. We can’t post it here, but we can link you to it

So, it’s thanks to Bob for giving PV a transatlantic ‘big up’; but now, it’s over to you. Can you help PV help Bob Allen help Mike Blamey?

If you can help, please let us know… Call 07435 561052 asap, please

Thanks!
