Go-Pak Adds McNamara to Spearhead Its Expansion into Vending

Leading manufacturer and importer of paper cups, Go-Pak, has announced the appointment of Ray McNamara as Senior Business Development Manager – Vending. Ray starts on 11th January with one major objective: to manage Go-Pak’s mission to increase its share of the paper vending cup market.

Ray’s a familiar face in the vending world. He’s been in the industry for over 30 years, 18 of them at Huhtamaki – where he was UK Vending Sales Manager – and before that, 14 years at Autobar.

Ray will continue to serve on the AVA Environmental committee and the Vending 21 Club Committee.

‘Ray has the kind of experience that’s very hard to find’, Mike Bristow, Go-Pak Sales and Marketing Director, told PV. ‘The vending market is a very specialist one, so an understanding of it, the way it works and its complexities; is a vital asset to have – and that’s what Ray brings to the party. We’re confident at Go-Pak that we can achieve great results in the vending sector. The landscape of the market is changing. There’s a substantial shift from plastic to paper and we believe that there’s every chance for a new, high quality brand to make a substantial impact in the marketplace.

‘Go-Pak has grown quickly to become one of the leading suppliers of paper hot cups in the UK and the acquisition of the business by the largest vertically integrated packaging company in Asia, SCG Packaging, will add further strength to the the Go-Pak offering and by adding a vending option to our portfolio of top-quality products we’ve become an even stronger company’, Mike said.

‘I’m really excited to be joining the Go-Pak team” Ray McNamara zoomed. “Opportunities like this don’t come along that often. Go-Pak has already established itself as one of the most successful manufacturers and importers of paper hot cups, particularly in Foodservice and Cash & Carry, and I’m really looking forward to applying my experience in this exciting new role and carving a niche for Go-Pak in vending.’

Planet Vending’s Editor is Ian Reynolds-Young and it’s Ian’s unique writing talent that has made PV what it is today – the best read (red) vending blog in the world, and vending’s best read (reed). Ian ‘tripped and fell into vending’, in the capacity of PR executive, before launching a specialist agency, ‘reynoldscopy’, dedicated to the UK Vending business. The company continues to represent the interests of many of the sector’s leading brands.

‘It’s all about telling stories’, he says. ‘We want to make every visit to PV a rewarding experience. By celebrating the achievements of the UK’s operating companies, we’re on a mission to debunk the idea that vending is retailing’s poor relation.’
