Simpson Retires – But Zak Is The New Man Hired…

After 20 years ‘outstanding service’, Julian Simpson will retire at the end of August from his executive role at Regency Design. However, he will continue to support the business as a Non-Executive Director, going forward.

A new Chief Commercial Officer, Zak Manhire, will replace him. Zak acknowledges that his predecessor is the ultimate ‘hard act to follow’:

Regency‘Julian has been an integral part of the success of Regency during his tenure’, he told PV & OCS. ‘His contribution will always be valued and his personality, humour and hard work will be greatly missed everyone at Regency. I’d like to thank him on behalf of all the staff for his service so far and wish him a long and happy retirement.’

Zak joins Regency having been Commercial Development Director at Monster Energy Drinks, where he played a key role in their significant growth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.  Prior to that, Zak sat on the Product and Trading Board at Costa Coffee.

‘His knowledge and expertise in our markets will be invaluable to Regency’, Julian said. ‘We’re looking forward to further developing and extending our customer service with Zak at the helm.’

Regency, based in Surrey, is a familiar name in the vending and coffee sectors. The company was established over 30 years ago and operates from a 45,000 square feet, state of the art production facility, which operates twenty-four hours a day.

‘Our experience allows us to inspire our clients by sharing unique insights and new ideas with them’, Zak said. ‘We apply cutting-edge design and production technology to deliver solutions and concepts that reflect the unique requirements of our clients, many of whom are known for the innovation they bring to consumers. The fact that our comprehensive, end-to-end service, which embraces design, manufacture; delivery and installation is respected throughout the industry, is Julian’s unique legacy to the business.’

Planet Vending’s Editor is Ian Reynolds-Young and it’s Ian’s unique writing talent that has made PV what it is today – the best read (red) vending blog in the world, and vending’s best read (reed). Ian ‘tripped and fell into vending’, in the capacity of PR executive, before launching a specialist agency, ‘reynoldscopy’, dedicated to the UK Vending business. The company continues to represent the interests of many of the sector’s leading brands.

‘It’s all about telling stories’, he says. ‘We want to make every visit to PV a rewarding experience. By celebrating the achievements of the UK’s operating companies, we’re on a mission to debunk the idea that vending is retailing’s poor relation.’
