Coronavirus and the efforts to curb its proliferation, has led – not surprisingly – to the postponement of the leading international trade show, Venditalia.
Initially scheduled for May, in Milan, the event has finally fallen victim to Coronavirus, after consultations with exhibitors and stakeholders and in line with the international trade fair calendar.
The event will now will be held at Fieramilano Rho Exhibition Centre from 18 to 21 November 2020, by which time it is hoped that the threat from Coronavirus will have passed
The decision to postpone the event is in line with the latest ordinances issued by the Lombardy Region, with the Decrees of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers and with the guidelines of the Italian Ministry of Health, and aims primarily to protect the health of all the people working on the event.
A press release from the organisers says ‘the new date was identified thanks to careful listening to market needs and open discussion with exhibitors, buyers and stakeholders, and also considering the international calendar: the month of November proved to be the best for the event, far from possible overlapping with other trade fairs. The work for the organization of the new edition, therefore, does not stop, with the aim of creating an event in line with the needs of the market.’
As a result of the cancellation, we at PV tried to cancel our flights to the event, but discovered that, despite Italy being closed for business because of Coronavirus, it was not possible to get a refund of the ticket costs. So, we’ve transferred our booking to November. We’ve had to fork out nearly three-times more money for the new tickets. You might say that any supplement is a small price to pay for avoiding the risk of contracting Coronavirus. On the other hand, ‘bloody hell, Ryanair’. And then there’s an additional fee for changing the booking…
God bless you, Mr O’Leary.
