Cantaloupe is bringing its A Team to Vendex North, in terms of both products and personnel. Front and centre in the exhibition spotlight will be the company’s ‘Smart Stores’, which recently won the accolade of Most Innovative Service 2025 at the coveted AVS Awards.
Launched in the UK less than a year ago, Smart Stores were Cantaloupe’s response to the operational challenges faced by today’s retail sector, encompassing product accessibility, store locations, theft prevention and inventory management. Smart Stores can solve all these issues in traditional retail environments – think of locked up razors and high-end beauty products – while extending retail brands into new spaces, such as airports and college campuses. Smart Stores have delivered on their promise to provide a more modern and secure alternative to traditional food and beverage vending machines.
‘Smart Stores is at the vanguard of the next wave of self-service retail’ Paul Shattock, EMEA Sales Director at Cantaloupe said. ‘It enables small retail outlets to solve challenges that were beyond the reach of traditional vending solutions, providing 24/7 access, at the same time as reducing shrinkage. Across the US and the UK markets, we’ve installed over a thousand units this year.’
Smart Stores integrates seamlessly with Cantaloupe’s flagship VMS, Vendmanager, which Paul desribes as ‘the heartbeat of our offer.’

Payment Sytems are high on the Cantalouoe agenda: ‘The success of a payment sytems is built on seamlessness and reliability; the abiity to deliver on those pre-requisites day in, day out – and that’s exactly what we can offer to operators in the UK’, Paul said. ‘We’ll be demonstrating its features and benefits at Vendex North and I’d urge delegates who are not familiar with our system to get hands on with it in Doncaster, where our industry experts will be on hand to walk them through what it could do to strengthen their business.’

Whilst Vendmanager is a ‘household name’ in the trade, visitors to Stands 86, 87 and 88 at Vendex can investigate the new possibilities incumbent in its brand-new dashboard. As Dan Varney, Chief Operating Officer, EMEA for Cantaloupe, recently told PV: ‘Our reinvented interface allows us to present data in a way that our previous system could not do. It’s been designed and built with the likes of Power BI business intelligence in mind. Many clients are starting to use it for various areas of their business, not just the VMS part. The feedback we’ve had so far has been outstanding in terms of both how it looks and feels, and the data that it’s able to surface and show.’
On top of the Most Innovative Service 2025 award, Cantaloupe also walked away from the AVS award ceremony with the gongs for Best Customer Service and Best Support Service and this is refelcted in the quality of the people they have on duty at Vendex. From technical gurus, installation experts and housings designers, all the expertise you need will be at the show, ready to answer any questions you have on the ‘whys’ and ‘wherefores’ of putting a state of the art, cashless micro market in place.
‘There’s a lot to discuss and a lot to learn’, Paul said, ‘so I’d encourage our customers and other interested parties to make sure they visit us at Vendex.’
