Vendies Finalist:- N&W Leads, Others Follow – Same as Always

The team at N&W is delighted to be short listed in this year’s Vendies and has asked PV to assist in its shout out for votes. This is why the guys feel you should vote for them.

‘We nominated ourselves because in the past couple of years, N&W has been the outstanding innovator in the vending machine industry and our innovation is the product of joined-up thinking, executed on a grand scale. New technology has catapulted vending into the digital age: think of payment systems, onscreen media; connectivity and touch-screen operation. But that’s not all: technology has also allowed designers to deliver a quality of coffee that, hitherto, was not thought possible from fully automatic machines…

Our achievement has been to pull these innovations together, arguably for the first time, in a range of products that meet the demands of both the consumer and, crucially, the operator. That’s why we’ve decided to put forward, for your consideration, our state-of-the-art combination comprising the Canto Touch (with its latest software) and the Samba.

The Canto Touch’s 21-inch HD screen has the ability to play stand-by videos, videos linked to specific selections and promotional adverts – and display the drinks icons at the same time. You don’t get just one or the other, you get both. How much sense does that make? Creating the impulse to buy is only effective when consumers can ‘scratch their itch’ without delay. We’ve made that possible.

We recognised that, for vending to be successful, consumers must enjoy using a machine to make a purchase. So, it made sense for us to dispense with the old decal style of the ‘traditional’ machines and replace them with icons you might expect to find on the latest tablet devices. It’s cool to use our vending machines. Ergo, vending is cool.

What makes our Canto Touch / Samba combo so innovative? It’s been possible to connect machines before, but not quite like this: you see, The Canto Touch and Samba connected create a retail solution that means you can shop across both machines with a single payment solution, including a credit card reader. This means that you can buy multiple items with only one transaction – a great benefit to the operator, as there is only one transaction charge for a multi-item purchase.

Perhaps just as important, the large touch screen on the Canto Touch allows you to market or promote meal deals. It’s the inability to advertise promotions effectively, right there on the machine, that has stymied public take-up and therefore the interest to date of operators: however, our innovation has removed that obstacle. Once again: joined-up thinking.

By offering shopping across two machines, customers can earn discounts on the items in their virtual shopping basket: for instance, ‘purchase two items or more and receive a 15% discount.’ Our machines can do that.

What’s more, because the machines are linked, customers can, if they wish, access nutritional information on their snack of choice prior to purchase – via the Canto’s screen.

These innovations have been introduced without fuss or fanfare, but we believe that they will be instrumental in elevating the role of vending in the digital age.

Incremental innovation: we lead, others follow; same as always’
