Tony Smith, familiar to everybody in vending in his role at Jacobs Douwe Egberts Professional, (where he’s been for fourteen years!), has been chosen to represent the AVA at its European counterpart. Tony will replace Gillian White at the European Vending Association. The role entails attending quarterly meetings with the EVA as part of the executive committee.
Tony has been a member of the AVA board for the last three years. He has 26 years of experience in the coffee industry, having developed his career in the HoReCa sector in wholesale dry goods and coffee manufacturing. Tony has been active within the AVA for the last three years and last year chaired the AVEX 2015 committee.
He has also previously served for five years on the ingredients committee at the British Hospitality Association (BHA), as well as spending two years there as chairman.
‘It’s a great honour to be chosen as the AVA representative of the EVA and uphold the reputation of previous AVA members who have served’, Tony told PV. ‘It’s good to have the opportunity to have a voice in Europe on behalf of the UK vending industry. I hope to play an active role on behalf of the association and to work in the best interests of UK vending operators.’
‘Tony brings an incredible amount of experience to this role which will stand him in good stead as he deals with the wide variety of issues facing vending at a European level’, AVA CEO Jonathan Hart said. ‘His enthusiasm and expertise will be a tremendous asset to the EVA, just as it has been to the AVA over recent years.’
