The AVA Appoints Alex Walsh as Public Affairs Manager

The AVA has appointed Alex Walsh as Public Affairs Manager. It’s no wonder: under the ever-accumulating weight of new legislation, regulations and ‘official guidance’ that continues to shape our industry, the importance of a strong, informed and proactive voice to speak out on our behalf has never been greater.

The AVA has responded to the changing landscape by adding the new role of AVA Public Affairs Manager to its personnel resource – and announcing the inaugural incumbent, Alex Walsh.

She has a hell of a CV: after her graduation in 2015, Alex got a plumb job working for the former Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, a position she held for ten years. During this time, she honed her political expertise, lobbying successfully for the benefit of local constituents and businesses. Blimey. And now, she’s going in to bat for vending…

‘As Public Affairs Manager, Alex will be supporting the development and delivery of the public affairs strategy at The AVA’, Chief Executive David Llewellyn says. ‘She will be liaising with member businesses and stakeholder groups on policy matters, the better to understand the impact any policy changes may have. Alex will prioritise the building of constructive relationships with political stakeholders to influence government policy for the benefit of AVA members.

‘With a wealth of experience in the navigation of complex policy landscapes, Alex can play a vital role in helping to shape the industry’s responses to consultations, in strengthening relationships with partner associations, and in forging valuable new connections across the political and regulatory spectrum. We’re thrilled to have Alex on board The AVA and look forward to the insight, energy, and expertise she’ll bring to our small but dynamic team’, David says.

Alex is looking forward to her new challenge: ‘I’m delighted to join the team and I’m looking forward to working with AVA members to ensure that the vending industry is heard in Westminster and beyond.’

All of us at Planet Vending wish Alex every success.
