When it comes to coffee, making ethical choices is high on consumer’s consciences. In fact, according to the Allegra Coffee Report 2014, some 33% of consumers now see ethical labelling as important.
The news emerges as a partnership between Nescafé Plan – the company’s global commitment to improving the quality and sustainability of coffee production – and the Rainforest Alliance, who are working to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods, has been announced and Nescafé Mokambo Tradición has been launched, made from coffee from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.
‘A high percentage of coffee farmers manage small plots, generally having low yields. By working with the Rainforest Alliance, Nestlé Professional is collaborating with farmers to ensure its coffee is responsibly produced as well as being of the highest quality’, a spokesman told PV.
