Livewell Vending, set up in 2006 to give schools a simple way to provide pupils with high-quality, healthy refreshments on the go, has expanded into servicing all business sectors, offering a wide range of snack, hot and cold drink stations that prioritise well-being alongside convenience. The company’s new partnership, with Leeds Bradford Airport, is providing passengers with safe and easy access to high-quality refreshments and travel essentials.
As lockdown eases and travel resumes, passengers are returning to find that airports have new, stringent hygiene guidelines in place. Many airlines have suspended the sale of food and drink on flights in a bid to reduce in-flight contact points and this presents a problem to air travelers, as some catering outlets in terminals remain closed.
By installing three modern, low-touch VendSafe stations at the airport, Livewell has eased the concerns of passengers be providing them with a new way to get the food, drinks and PPE they need before boarding– and all in a COVID-safe way.
One landside station sells snacks, face coverings and 100ml antibacterial spray, all of which can be taken through security. Two further stations, located opposite gates 7 and 8 in the ground floor departure lounge, provide a full range of food and drinks to take on the plane.
Products are presented for sale in hygienic, temperature-controlled units behind glass screens. Wipe-clean touch screens, automated dispensing mechanisms and contactless payments allow for an easy choice of branded refreshments and PPE travel essentials. COSSH-approved hand sanitiser dispensers are fixed to the front of each station and floor signage has been installed to ensure social distancing.
‘Leeds Bradford Airport is on our doorstep and we are delighted to have won this contract’, Livewell Vending Managing Director Aaron Prout told PV. ‘The launch had been on hold due to Covid-19, so it’s great to be finally up and running. With a low touch interface and contactless payments, the vending set-up has proven attractive to cautious passengers, so our solution is off to a flying start!’
‘The resumption of flights is well and truly underway at Leeds Bradford Airport and we’re delighted to introduce Livewell contactless vending machines as part of our adjusted operations’, a spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport, added. ‘Passengers can resume their use of the airport safely, with access to refreshments, face coverings and hand gel. We see investments like this as important additions to the airport and thank Livewell for providing a timely solution.’
