Great Vending Get Together Ball and Golf Day raises a cool £30,000 for EdUKaid

Great Vending Get Together : An incredible £30,000 was raised for children’s education charity EdUKaid at the 2021 AVS Golf Day and Great Vending Get Together Ball on 24th September.  The annual event, hosted by Tim and Sarah Varney from Doozy was held at the iconic Belfry Golf Course and Hotel.  This was the 10th charity ball and auction in support of EdUKaid but the first time the event has been combined with an AVS golf day.

PV raised the roof back in 2018 when the Great Vending Get Together raised a whopping £13k – which only goes to show that this latest result is truly off the scale…

Great Vending Get TogetherThe day began with 72 golfers teeing off on the famous Brabazon course, former home of the Ryder Cup.  Vending suppliers and operators kindly sponsored holes and iPro Hydrate provided refreshments at the halfway point.

Doozy’s CEO and Chair of EdUKaid Tim Varney opened the evening with a moving presentation depicting EdUKaid’s work in Tanzania.  Tim was able to demonstrate exactly what the generosity of the vending industry has achieved through their ongoing generosity: £150,000 to the charity, and counting…

After a lavish 3 course dinner, NIVO MD Graham Kingaby presided over a lively auction, with ‘star’ prizes including a holiday at Beyaz Villas in Turkey (courtesy of Sarah and Tim Varney) and access to an Executive Box at Old Trafford, (hats off to Kepak). Tim was presented with a cheque for £2,000, which was raised at the recent NIVO golf day and, to top the lot, Three Square Market announced a donation of £5,000, then promptly committed to repeating the dose for the next 2 years.  Wow. Tower Leasing, H2O Direct, Options Management and Cymraeg Vending all committed to sponsor 5 of EdUKaid’s pre-primary classes over the next year, providing over 600 children with an education. The Great Vending Get Together really did get it together.

Tim Varney told us ‘I continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of my colleagues in the vending industry. Year after year, they show incredible support for EdUKaid’s work: transforming the lives of some of the world’s most disadvantaged children.  We’ve seen for ourselves the incredible impact that EdUKaid’s contribution has made and the real difference individuals can make, simply by attending events such as the Great Vending Get Together’.

The fun-filled evening concluded with a live band and – if the press release is to be believed – ‘some fabulous moves on the dance floor’. Hmm…

Well done to all involved in the Great Vending Get Together 2021. It was a magnificent achievement.
