We asked new AVA Head, David Llewellyn, to give us our intro to our Spotlight on… Vendex. The Spotlight goes out to our subscribers later this week so get in touch NOW if you’d like to be included.
Meantime, we’re delighted to be working so closely with the AVA during these times of change and innovation!
‘The AVA and VENDEX Midlands
As we approach yet another VENDEX at the Motorcycle Museum it is time to consider anew what this type of event offers the UK Vending Industry. The world around us is changing: international political headlines and economic uncertainty abound, but vending does offer us a constant – of sorts. After all, it is just another retail outlet. OK, there may be a bit more machinery and stuff involved – and we are often picked on as an easy target for those with a political axe to grind. But, never-the-less it is a great industry to be involved in. With many rewards – not all of them money!
Trade Events such as VENDEX are always a good place to see what is going on in the industry – to see new equipment, products and services. Make new acquaintances and business contacts, plus renewing old connections.
Looking at the floorplan, over half the exhibitors are AVA members – as will be many of those attending. We will be at VENDEX and this will be a great opportunity to catch up with members and non-members (or should that be – potential new AVA members).

It is in the interest of everyone in the industry that there is a strong and successful Automatic Vending Association. Only then can we make our voice heard at Government level when needed. To correct or influence current direction or thinking – vividly illustrated by our recent meetings with Defra and Zero Waste Scotland (see previous PV reports and archive here).
I look forward to seeing you there.
DAVID LLEWELLYN
Chief Executive, The AVA.’
