Johnny Broderick spoke to PV from Spain of his delight last night, as Broderick’s was presented with the Vending Industry Award for ‘Best National Operator’ before an appreciative audience at the AVA’s Annual General Meeting.
‘This is massive for us as a company’, he said, ‘and it means a great deal to us as a family. To win ‘Best National Operator’ in the inaugural Vending Industry Awards, to have ‘Broderick’s’ as the first name on a trophy that will be contested for many years to come, is a great honour.’
Johnny believes that the award will add further impetus to a business that is already thriving: ‘I’d like to dedicate the award to all our customers’, he said. ‘They are the people that shared our vision for vending and an award like this is a valuable vindication for them, of the faith they put in us; they backed us to turn the vision into a reality so I hope they find this moment of success as rewarding as we do.’
It also sends out a message to potential clients: ‘wherever you are in the UK, Broderick’s can provide you with the benefits of the best vending service the UK has to offer.’
‘This award will make even more people sit up and take notice of what we’re achieving in terms of our on-screen advertising’, Johnny said. ‘It’ll have FMCG brand managers and media buyers taking a long, hard look at a completely new way of communicating effectively with consumers, right at the point of purchase on digital screens.
‘It’s always been our ambition to change the public’s perception of vending’, Johnny said. ‘If we can achieve that, then it’s not just a win for us, it’s a win for the whole industry. ‘It’s not right that we should carry the tag of ‘poor retailer’ but to prove it we have to take on the High Street, for example by providing sophisticated consumers with a wide choice of drink and meal deals, delivered by attractive, fun to use, touch-screen vending machines. We think that’s the future of vending. If we can make using a vending machine a better experience for people than going to a ‘traditional’ shop, then why would people choose to go to a shop?
‘We’re continually pushing the boundaries of drinks quality by embracing technology and using the best possible ingredients’ Johnny added. ‘We’re always trying to improve the experience of using vending machines and we’re making it as easy as possible for people to use vending machines by adopting payment systems that accept virtually any kind of payment except IOUs!’
‘On behalf of Broderick’s I’d like to thank the AVA and the VIA judges for this award and to thank our numerous friends in the industry for their expressions of support, which are very much appreciated by everyone at Broderick’s’
The award was collected in Johnny’s absence by John Broderick Senior, and Steven Broderick.
