We’ve also got a brand-new Yorkie – Biscuit and Brownie – for you this month and to be fair, it’s a bit of an anomaly in vending. Elsewhere in retailing, it’s hardly a game changer; but in our neck of the woods, it’s one of Nestlé’s best-selling lines. In fact, if you don’t include KitKat, the number-one confectionery line in vending, Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit is Nestlé’s top product. Basically, the vending industry loves a Yorkie!
In fact it reminds me of Nestlé’s Drifter, if you remember that? It was a nice wafery biscuit with two fingers, a bit like a Twix, and it sold well at ARN. Eventually it was de-listed, because outside of vending, it wasn’t really much of a goer. Vending used to sell about half of the production of Drifter… The fact that Yorkie Raisin and Biscuit is Nestlé’s biggest selling line in vending after Kit Kat, yet would probably fail to make the Top 20 in any other sector, shows you what a weird wonderful world we’re working in. But who are we to question why? Let’s just sell Yorkie Biscuits and Brownies to an eager and receptive marketplace.
