Against All Odds, The UK’s Vending Industry Soldiers On

Against All Odds – with pared back staff and loss of income – many of the UK’s vending operators and their suppliers are soldiering on to maintain their services to NHS staff and other key workers.

Planet Vending has been monitoring LinkedIn and we’re proud to share these inspirational posts, which describe dedication in adversity.

Against All Odds, ONE – From Kelly Pugh at City Vending Services Ltd.

Against All OddsWe will have no office based staff but all calls & e-mails will still be attended in the same way by management & our call centre staff, working in their own homes to take service calls and orders if needed. Many of our operated business customers are now closed so we will have a severely reduced workforce out in the field. We do however still have customers in essential industries, many operate on a 24/7 basis who will require our service more than ever to allow them to continue to operate. We intend to achieve this using the minimal workforce as possible.
We thank our wonderful staff for their continued support and hard work at this difficult time.
We have contacted every customer that still requires a service to discuss a strategy for the mutual safety of both their staff and ours.
In the meantime please be assured that all our staff will follow the strictest hygiene and sanitisation routines both personally and on all equipment and safe handling of stock.
We also thank our suppliers for their continued support at this unprecedented time for our industry.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and we thank you for your continued loyalty.
Stay safe everyone.
Kelly & Shawn

Against All Odds, TWO – From Linda Baker at Westways Vending

Westways Vending is continuing to operate in the current circumstances. For the next two weeks we are providing a service restricted to essential supplies. Our staff are designated as key workers, and they are committed to serving those sites such as manufacturing pharmaceuticals and food production who are keeping the U.K. in business. Social distancing in place. It’s times like this when you realise what a great bunch of people we employ. The support for the business as we have had to make tough decisions has been amazing. So whether you are furloughed or working, thank you. To our customers who are still working, we are still here for you, albeit with a somewhat unusual business structure.
Take care everyone!

Against All Odds, THREE – From Jane Macdonald at Excel Vending

Our fantastic team are out working hard – their health and safety is our top priority. Thank you to all our customers for ensuring our staff are kept safe by adhering to social distancing

Against All Odds, Four – From James Bate, Coffetek

Our Sales and Support teams are available to assist and help where required, our operations team are continuing to ensure the flow of machines and spare parts. We are using technology including Skype, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and google Hangouts to provide interactive meetings and technical support. We are here to help, please stay safe. By working together we will get through this and reinvent the wonderful and vibrant industry we have enjoyed for so long.

Against All OddsAgainst All Odds, Five – From Thomas Cadman at Express Vending

It has been a manic two weeks. Absolutely everything has changed and is still changing. To help support our clients Express Vending are pleased to announce that, for the first time ever, we have been able to facilitate nationwide home deliveries of essential home stock to help keep people safe and in their homes during the country’s quarantine period. Get in touch to find out more about these services as well as many other ways we can help support your company through these unprecedented times.

Stay inside… it’s nearly the weekend 😀

Against All Odds, Six – From Craig Jukes, Evoca UK

Thought I would share with you the current Evoca position. We are open and have limited people working across all departments sales, finance, help desk, pdc, logistics, spares etc so if you need anything our usual comms channels are open. However a word most of us never used or knew much of until a couple of months ago “furloughed” is unfortunately what we have had to implement with the rest of our team. The better of the decisions we had in front of us. In the hope that post virus period we can return to the buoyant marketplace we were experiencing in Q1 this year. Like most of you we’ve changed working conditions with staff working at home, using various forms of digital communication and trying to keep our customers and suppliers fully supported. I am open to any questions if there is anything I can advise or support on?

Against All Odds, Seven – From Zak Manhire,  Regency

We have tested and created CE cert PPE cat 1 Face Visors in our factory in Surrey. Anti-Fog acetate shield with elasticated soft foam head band. They do not create distortion and no colour distortion. For any medical, governments or anyone in need of them please contact me at zak@regencydesign.co.uk This is and will not generate profit for ourselves… This is to be of service in help battling Covid-19.

Against All Odds
NHS Bound…

Against All Odds, Eight – From Johnny Broderick,  Brodericks

Tonight we have fitted the Pay4Vend app to the hot beverage machines Stepping Hill hospital to give NHS staff free hot drinks, in NHS information how to beat the virus hot drinks help fight Covid -19. With the closure of so many takeaway local outlets , McCafe Nero’s and Costa the vending machines are perfectly placed to assist .  We can’t send our promotional team in for obvious reasons so I need our Stockport and Greater Manchester contacts and friends to help promote by letting NHS professionals known to them by sending or sharing this post across LinkedIn and Facebook or Direct message. It’s a great way to say thank you whilst we stay at home, whilst they fight on the front line.

Against All Odds, Nine – From Alan Barratt, Grenade

On the right are our latest free care packages being sent to our front line NHS heroes. This would not have been possible without the amazing help and support from Denys C. Shortt OBE and DCS Group (UK) Ltd

Against All Odds, Ten – From Malcolm Bell, Scraegg UK

ScraeggOur vow to the NHS and care workers: We were so inspired by the efforts companies are making to help our wonderful front line carers, we wanted to do our share. Although we only started in January 2019 last year in the UK, we are fortunate, as a company to be able to give back.
We decided to provide a £60,000 release of machinery to frontline staff to keep them fed through this awful time.
We were blessed that Hotel Football and the Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester, allowed us to supply 2 of our machines to feed the NHS staff staying there, with scrambled eggs, porridge, soup and other foods that can be made fresh in a matter of 15 seconds. Thanks so much to e-foods for organising this.

Please help us to find more worthy causes to supply our machinery free of charge. Please think of care homes, Hospital trusts or any other organisation that is helping to support the frontline NHS and carers. We will provide full support on these machines, with training only taking a matter of minutes, with such an easy to use system. You do not need certification, so please do not worry about red tape. This is not a gimmick, it is a genuine call to help. Be safe everyone and we will all get through this together.
