Broderick’s has announced the publication of a groundbreaking scientific paper, which analyses the science behind the company’s reputation for delivering the most reliable, best-performing vending machines the industry has to offer.
The research, ‘Vending Machine Product Demand Prediction Using Machine Learning Algorithms’ , was co-authored with Manchester Metropolitan University and published by IEEE, one of the world’s most respected engineering bodies. The work has also been recognised internationally.
‘In a marketplace where many competitors claim to use advanced technology, Broderick’s is now independently validated as delivering precisely what others only promise, setting a new standard for vending reliability.’
The research confirms the superior accuracy of Broderick’s AI-led stock management system, which was designed to ensure that the machines are ‘A4’: Always Full, Always Clean; Always Working and Always Online.
The report concludes that this reliability is underpinned by a multi-layered telemetry infrastructure. If internet connectivity ever drops, Broderick’s machines instantly switch to Bluetooth, ensuring uninterrupted transactions and continuous reporting. The upshot is a game-changer: customers won’t – can’t! – lose money in a Broderick’s machine.
The MMU study evaluated several forecasting models, including XGBoost, Facebook Prophet, ARIMA and Support Vector Regression, utilising five months of real Broderick’s sales data harvested from a major Manchester retail destination. Key points were as follows: XGBoost delivered the highest accuracy, achieving the lowest mean absolute error; the model outperformed all traditional forecasting approaches; predictive restocking significantly reduces waste and stockout and finally, the system adapts intelligently to weekday patterns, public holidays and abnormal sales. events.
This research represents the first academic validations of AI-driven vending operations in the UK and confirms Broderick’s position at the forefront of technological innovation in the sector.
This technological breakthrough now ensures Broderick’s machines are guaranteed to generate more revenue. Broderick’s machines can now always stay replenished, remain fully operational and never drop offline, operators and clients consistently 365 days a year.

This has impacted clients in the last year by helping them to achieve between 25% and 100% more revenue from their vending solution. This is compared with traditional vending setups built on manual checks, reactive restocking and dated telemetry tools. This uplift is not projected, it is evidenced and now independently verified through the published research.
‘This publication signals a step change for the industry: AI-led vending is no longer a future ambition, but a present-day reality that is already driving measurable commercial advantage’, John Broderick, Managing Director, Broderick Group said. ‘Broderick’s is proud to lead this shift and invites wider industry partners to engage with the findings and the opportunities they unlock.
‘We’ve always believed in doing everything right, not because it’s easy, but because our customers deserve a service they can rely on. This research independently verifies the technology and dedication behind every Broderick’s machine. Our clients benefit from fuller machines, happier customers and significantly increased revenue. For many, that’s the future of vending but at Broderick’s, we’re delivering it today.’
