VIA Mania Swells Awards Ceremony Numbers

The number of tickets sold for the occasion of the AVA’s inaugural Vending Industry Awards dinner smashed through the 400 barrier as voting for the ‘public’ categories drew to a close.

With only 60 places remaining, it’s ‘make your mind up time’ for those without a seat to sit in: apparently, sales are running at ’15-20 per day’, so the sand’s fast running out… Book now.

The AVA reports that voting has been ‘brisk’ and that many contestants have undertaken on-line campaigns to draw attention to, and to seek support for their particular tilts at glory: many of them sent press releases to us here at Planet Vending, so we can vouch for that.

It’ll be exciting to see who wins the prizes – and to hear what the organisers have to say about the, er, abrupt cancellation of the ‘Best National Operator’ category…

Incidentally, when we spoke to our mole at the AVA today we were informed that there’s ‘no final decision yet’ over the dress code for the event. We hope it’s ‘black tie’. 400 odd of us in best bib and tucker would be a hell of a sight, wouldn’t it?

The Editor

Planet Vending’s Editor is Ian Reynolds-Young and it’s Ian’s unique writing talent that has made PV what it is today – the best read (red) vending blog in the world, and vending’s best read (reed). Ian ‘tripped and fell into vending’, in the capacity of PR executive, before launching a specialist agency, ‘reynoldscopy’, dedicated to the UK Vending business. The company continues to represent the interests of many of the sector’s leading brands.

‘It’s all about telling stories’, he says. ‘We want to make every visit to PV a rewarding experience. By celebrating the achievements of the UK’s operating companies, we’re on a mission to debunk the idea that vending is retailing’s poor relation.’
