Vendman’s MD, Rob, was Robbed? Or Kevin Reed just ‘Quick off the Mark’?

Competition was fierce at this weekend’s race of the year. Pride was at stake and there was only a handful of plucky participants willing to show themselves up… errr for the challenge.

The background? Well, Vendman boss Rob Little came up with this theory that Usain Bolt’s acceleration was in the last 60 metres of the 100 metres race, he was actually quite slow (?) for the first 40. So, Rob reckoned that he could beat Usain Bolt over 40 metres.  And so it began. The gauntlet was thrown down and in exchange for money going to the Charity, EdUkAid, a number of spectators and runners turned up on the day, at The Great Vending Get Together in Torquay. Planet Vending can’t quite work out if the race happened before festivities began or after the Great Vending Hangover had started. No doubt we’ll find out more later…

The result was controversial- of course. Kevin Reed of Siemens Financial, not wishing to lose at anything, was bouncing up and down like a thing possessed prior to the race whilst Rob was calmly standing around waiting patiently for the race to commence. The Ready Steady Go saw Kevin gone in a flash and had crossed the line before most of the others had gathered their wits about them.  Although we can’t see the finishing line in the video we are lead to believe that Rob was a worthy second place.

There have been the usual cries of foul with blame being put on the starter believe it or not, but what do you think? Did Kevin jump the gun (or the GO)? Answers please….

Oh and lest we forget, the whole point of the weekend was to raise money for EdUkAid and we understand that over £10,000 was collected or pledged. Well done, and we hope to be there in person next year!
