Pictured: Are you having a laugh? Vendman boss Rob Little believes he can beat Usain Bolt over 40 metres – but can you beat Rob?
BY TIM VARNEY

At a recent golf day and after a few drinks but absolutely no pressure or prompting from anyone, Vendman MD Rob Little shocked the whole room by stating that he believed he could beat Usain Bolt over 40 metres. His reasoning being that Usain runs a poor first 40 and then picks up to lightning speed over the last 60 metres. Despite everyone’s best efforts to persuade Rob that ‘poor’ by Usain’s standard is still likely to be twice as fast as Rob, he remains resolute.
Give generously just to make sure Rob doesn’t wear Lycra.
So confident is he, in fact that to prove his credentials he has issued a challenge to the vending industry. Rob is inviting all comers to race him in ‘ The Rob Little 40 Metre Dash’. It will take place in Torquay on Saturday 11th October to coincide with ‘The Great Vending Get Together’ the same day. Venue to be agreed but it could be on along the seafront or even up the hill towards the Imperial hotel.
(Or it could be on the driveway of the local A&E – Ed.)
Absolutely anyone can enter the race. Sadly, Usain is busy but we are still expecting a good turnout for what could be an annual event. I think to make it interesting all entrants should pay £5 and the winner takes half the money and the rest is donated to EdUKaid. There could however be other ways we could raise some dosh. Maybe we can take bets on the winner or we might even get some sponsorship. Some may give generously just to make sure Rob doesn’t wear Lycra.
Anyway, if anyone is coming to The Great Vending Get Together and would like to take part is this Blue ribbon event then please let me know.
Meanwhile, get training!
