Walkers unveils ‘Tweet to Eat’ Vending Machines

Pepsico’s Walkers has launched the first ever Twitter-powered vending machines, built into three bus shelters in London, for the Walkers Do Us A Flavour campaign.

The vending machines will appear to have Walkers ambassador Gary Lineker sitting inside them, as he responds to tweets from the public asking him to vend a finalist flavour.

The machines are located at three central London hotspots – two on Oxford Street, and one at Clapham Junction. They will remain there for two weeks until 11 September, offering the consumers the chance to try one of the six new Walkers finalist flavours.

Over the course of the two weeks each of the three vending machines will contain one of the six finalist flavours on offer for the public to try, with 260 packets available each day. Visitors to the bus stop will simply need to tweet @Walkers_busstop with the code provided to them to receive a free pack.

Launching back in January 2014, Walkers challenged crisp lovers around the country to suggest a brand new flavour for the chance to win £1m. The six chosen flavours are: Sizzling Steak Fajita; Chip Shop Chicken Curry; Pulled Pork in a Sticky BBQ Sauce; Ranch Raccoon; Cheesy Beans on Toast; and Hot Dog with Tomato Ketchup. It is now up to the public to vote at walkers.co.uk for their favourite and to crown the UK’s first Flavour Millionaire.

Commenting on the Twitter vending machine, Lee-Teng Chung, marketing manager at Walkers said: “Walkers loves bringing fun to the nation and we are extremely excited to launch the UK’s first ever tweet powered vending machine on the streets of London.

“The Do Us A Flavour campaign has taken the nation by storm so we are delighted to offer the public the chance to try the new flavours in such an innovative way. We can’t wait to hear more about what they think of the unique flavours.”
