Vendman hopes its ‘Centres of Excellence’ will benefit the UK vending industry

The UK’s leading vending technology company is to join forces with some of its key customers to create nationwide ‘Centres Of Excellence’, and the company hopes that the entire industry will benefit as a consequence.

Vendman has announced that it is to create a network of ‘Centres of Excellence’ nationwide. Centre of Excellence status will be open to all Vendman customers, because as MD Rob Little explained, ‘there’s no off-the-shelf template for running a vending company’.

Rob said, “each individual vending business has its own way of doing things; systems that work for them. The idea behind our Centres of Excellence was that we’d create something that would recognise and celebrate the most innovative and effective applications of our software.”

It’s hoped that the Centres of Excellence will benefit the UK vending industry at large, as Rob explained: “Companies that don’t use Vendman yet will be invited along to the Centres of Excellence so that they can see for themselves how some of the country’s leading vending operators use Vendman’s industry-leading technology to control their businesses.

“When you think of the vending industry, you imagine a host of companies all over the country that, basically, do the same things: they service, fill, stock and maintain vending machines. So, you could be forgiven for imagining that they all conduct their business in the same way, but that’s not how it is. Every individual business has its own ways of doing things, systems that work for them; so every single Vendman application out there is bespoke.”

In recent years, Vendman has launched a series of branded products, namely E3, Sequel E3 Live (on handheld) and E3 Live 2 that perhaps present an ‘off the shelf’ impression, but the company’s emphasis remains on technology and innovation aimed at addressing the specific requirements of individual companies. You might say it’s  ‘all things to all men’.

One of the first Centres of Excellence will be established at Manchester Vending, one of Vendman’s longest standing customers. To enter the Control Room in the company’s HQ,where John Broderick Senior and his team of three hold tight to the reins of the business, is to enter an atmosphere you might expect to encounter of the flight deck of the Starship Enterprise; calm, quiet and in control: ‘it’s vending, Jim, but not as we know it’.

Two giant plasma screens fill an entire wall: click the mouse and every vehicle in the company’s fleet appears as a pulsing light on the screen. Pick any vehicle: anything you want to know? The days of ‘wondering what so-and-so is up to’ are long gone; Vendman technology allows management to see exactly what ‘so-and-so’ is up to…

Another mouse click and the screens change and now the focus switches to the machine park: are there any problems, unreported faults? Are there any machines out there that someone forgot to turn on? And so it goes, every function of the business can be scrutinised, analysed and its profitability maximised.

“All Vendman Centres of Excellence will demonstrate the potential of Vendman unleashed to potential users”, Rob said. “I could explain the features and benefits of our technology to a non-user for a month and that wouldn’t be half as effective as allowing them to see the system working in the real world for just an hour”, Rob said.’

For Rob Little, this is the realisation of a vision he’s been nurturing for years. “It’s a proud moment for me and a milestone in the story of Vendman”, he said.
