Vending Industry Comes Together To Help EdUKaid Change Lives in Tanzania

An incredible £16,000 was raised in support of children’s education charity, EdUKaid, at the ‘Great Vending Get Together Ball’ on Saturday 1st October, hosted in Sandbanks by Revive Vending.  This was the 6th annual ball supported by the industry in aid of EdUKaid, which provides much needed education to young children, in one of the poorest regions in Tanzania.

This was the most successful fundraising event so far.

After a lavish dinner, a highly competitive and lively auction conducted by Keith Smith from Platino. There were prizes up for grabs from Coffetek, Siemens; Automatic Retailing, Barry Callebaut; VH Graddons, Nivo;  JDE Coffee and Mars. Inspired by the moving presentation given by Revive Vending’s Managing Director and Chair of EdUKaid Tim Varney, 3 companies and 1 individual committed £1,400 each to sponsor Tanzanian trained teachers. This will provide a critical resource for these disadvantaged children.

Nearly £100,000…

In the 6 years since the event began the vending industry has raised nearly £100,000. In the process, it has radically improved the lives of those children the charity supports.

  • EdUKaid was established in 2003. Based in Downton, the charity supports children and local communities in the poor, rural region of Mtwara in southern Tanzania. EdUKaid’s community led approach seeks to take small, sustainable steps encouraging local communities to overcome the challenges they face. EdUKaid’s mission is to provide the solutions required to ensure that children have access to good quality, local pre-primary and primary education. EdUKaid has created and funds 11 Montessori pre-primary classes in Mtwara and has undertaken renovation on 13 primary schools. This enables housands of children to benefit from a better education.
