Whilst the industry begins show season with Vendex Midlands at the Motorcycle Museum, with record-breaking numbers of delegates expected to attend, one company will be notable by its absence…
The Broderick Group will be three miles down the road, en-masse, installing machines in preparation for the go-live at their latest contractual win – Birmingham International Airport.
Help will be on hand with the installation; it’ll be supported by all the leading manufacturers as machines from Crane, N&W, Westomatic and Coffetec are installed, with a number of varying payment systems, including credit cards, sterling and euro notes (and coins!); as well as mobile and, for the first time in the UK, Apple Pay enabled units.
And the big brands will be around too: it’s no secret that Vimto’s visibility in the Midlands region has been augmented big-time since the announcement of an agreement to become a main sponsor of the up-and-coming Fusion Festival, which will see Justin Bieber headline in his first UK appearance for sometime. Vimto continues to support Broderick’s MediaVend channel, which will run the Vimtoad campaign throughout the summer.

Over twenty touchscreen machines are to be installed at Birmingham airport, which means that Vimto and a host of other household name brands have access to a staggering 11,000,000 passengers .
Birmingham Airport currently serves more than 140 direct scheduled and charter routes and offers an additional 280 possible connections worldwide. This gives passengers a choice of over 400 direct or one-stop flights. Approximately 50 airlines operate over 140 direct routes, including daily flights to New York, Istanbul, Dubai and frequent services to major European hubs. A further 280 global connections are available via hub airports including Delhi, Dubai, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris.
The ethnic diversity of passengers has been recognised by Broderick’s, who will offer a selection of halal products for sale in its machines.
MD Johnny Broderick spoke of his delight at adding Birmingham to the company portfolio: ‘It means we add a further eleven million people to our ‘captive’ audience’, he told PV, adding, ‘Birmingham’s plans for expansion promises further growth. Our total reach in the region is now fifteen million and when we take into consideration East Midlands Airport, the size of the opportunity available to any brand wishing to launch NPD, or on pack promotion, is immense.’
Sounds as though, for next week at least, all roads lead to Birmingham…
