Kevin Reed asked me at Vendex Midlands if I’d be so good as to make the draw to win an iPod Nano. Typically of Kevin, he was anxious to ensure that all was above board and that there could be no accusations of a fix or favouritism. I was of course delighted to oblige and Craig from Northbridge Vending was the lucky winner on that occasion with lucky ball number 29. 
Now fast forward several months and instead of being collared whilst passing the stand, Kevin calls me a week in advance and formally asks me to repeat the favour for the draw at AVEX 2015 in Manchester.
So I duly pitch up at the appointed time – ish – and he has all the kit: The lucky draw hat, the lucky numbered balls and a bundle of lucky numbered cards. I have our resident lucky photographer, alias the editor, and we’re ready to go. A tad disappointed that there was no drum roll… but you can’t have it all.
And, I put my hand in the hat and we went one better, pulling out number 30! What are the chances of that happening? (Someone out there will no doubt tell me)
