R.I.P. Derrick Skinner

The AVA has informed members that Derrick Skinner, who was the first Director of  the AVAB, (1966-1993), has passed away. Derrick will be missed by all the vending industry and was one of the main architects of the AVA as we know it today. He remained interested in the AVA and only last Christmas was sending CEO Jonathan Hilder cuttings and letters of interest about vending.

Olive Skinner has announced the following arrangements:

The funeral service will be on the 5th July at 2 pm at

St Michael’s Church, Mickleham, RH5 6EW, Surrey

The funeral service will be followed by a burial.

Olive has requested family flowers only. If anybody wishes to make a donation then the chosen charity is The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Cheques should be made out to the above, but sent to

Sherlock Funeral Services, Trellis House, 190 South street, Dorking, Surrey, RH4 2ES

We at Planet Vending offer our sincere condolences.

The Editor

Planet Vending’s Editor is Ian Reynolds-Young and it’s Ian’s unique writing talent that has made PV what it is today – the best read (red) vending blog in the world, and vending’s best read (reed). Ian ‘tripped and fell into vending’, in the capacity of PR executive, before launching a specialist agency, ‘reynoldscopy’, dedicated to the UK Vending business. The company continues to represent the interests of many of the sector’s leading brands.

‘It’s all about telling stories’, he says. ‘We want to make every visit to PV a rewarding experience. By celebrating the achievements of the UK’s operating companies, we’re on a mission to debunk the idea that vending is retailing’s poor relation.’
