Good-bye VIA’s, hello ‘The Vendies.’

By BRYONY ANDREWS

Vendie season has begun!

2015 will see the third year of the Vending Industry Awards, and a new identity for the industry event of the year. Taking place after the last day of AVEX 2015, on Wednesday 1st July at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate, The Vendies will celebrate outstanding products and people in the vending industry.THE VENDIES 2015

Completely free to enter, the tried and tested judging /voting system ensures that a Vendie represents an independent stamp of endorsement from the industry. With new categories including Best Machine Innovation, Best Snack or Confectionery Product and Best Payment or Cashless System, the Vendies offers all sectors of the industry a chance to gain recognition for their achievements. The last twelve months have seen some incredible advances in vending, so the competition is going to be fierce!

Organised by Datateam Business Media – home to Vending International – in association with the Automatic Vending Association (AVA), The Vendies also offers a key opportunity for category sponsorship. A number of enhancements to the current format promise to provide even greater exposure to the manufacturers and operators the event pays homage to – starting with the new look, easy to navigate website, with an updated aesthetic to go with the new incarnation. Take a look at www.thevendies.co.uk.

Celebrations will kick off with a VIP drinks reception for sponsors and their guests at the Hilton’s exclusive Cloud 23 bar, followed by a champagne reception and a three-course gourmet dinner, with the awards presentations and entertainment throughout the night. Initial rumours hint at table caricaturists, Indian palm readers, a Seaga car rally and a live band…

The Editor

Planet Vending’s Editor is Ian Reynolds-Young and it’s Ian’s unique writing talent that has made PV what it is today – the best read (red) vending blog in the world, and vending’s best read (reed). Ian ‘tripped and fell into vending’, in the capacity of PR executive, before launching a specialist agency, ‘reynoldscopy’, dedicated to the UK Vending business. The company continues to represent the interests of many of the sector’s leading brands.

‘It’s all about telling stories’, he says. ‘We want to make every visit to PV a rewarding experience. By celebrating the achievements of the UK’s operating companies, we’re on a mission to debunk the idea that vending is retailing’s poor relation.’
