Latest Blog contribution from Perk’s Sara Baillie.
No one, not even anyone here at Perk, knows what the Queen carries in her handbag.
Maybe a lipgloss?
A packet of chewing gum?
A hankie?
Your guess is as good as ours. One thing that most definitely isn’t in her handbag; money.
We don’t know why she makes a point of not carrying cash. Maybe she is sick of the sight of her own face on all those coins and notes and decided enough was enough. We respect her decision but we imagine it can sometimes lead to disappointment.
Imagine the scenario;
Queen Elizabeth (Liz) is feeling a tad parched. She spies a stunning looking Perk machine possibly like the one below and she begins reading through the choices available.
Liz: ” I say Philip! These drinks sound utterly delicious! One thinks One’ll have a Chocomilk”
Phil: “But you haven’t got any spare change Liz! You’ll have to go without’”
Liz: “Blast. The day is ruined”
But thanks to the installment of card readers, contactless and Apple Pay options, the conversation would instead go something like this …
Liz: “I say Philip! These drinks sound utterly delicious! One thinks One’ll have a Chocomilk”
Phil: “But you haven’t got any spare change Liz! You’ll have to go without”
Liz: “Don’t be silly, One’ll just use one’s Apple Watch to pay! These new machines have all the mod cons you know!”
Phil: “Hoorah! Chocomilks all round… and I quite fancy a Twix as well if you don’t mind Sweetcheeks”

The Royal Party can celebrate with warm frothy choccy milk and the day is saved by modern technology.
So. If you are expecting a visit from the Queen – or if you think spare change is for losers – don’t worry! There are plenty more payment options these days. Get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
