Fellow Vending colleagues

I would like just a few moments of your time to read through the article below.

Crane Merchandising Systems have entered 5 teams into the Race the Sun Brecon Beacons challenge, each team has 4 members each made up of Crane staff mixed with some friends & family.

The goal is to raise £10,000 for the chosen charity “Action medical research for children”

The challenge is;

·       22 miles cycling on & off road through Abergavenny

Followed by

·       2400ft climb/hike up and around Pen Y Fan

Followed by

·       3 miles cycle to Pontsticill reservoir

Followed by

·       3 km canoe around an obstacle course on the Pontsticill reservoir

Followed by

·       22 miles back round to the finish

Followed by a whole load of beers…

To give you an idea of the challenge ahead, the times for 2013 were;

Fastest = 5hrs 49mins

Slowest time = 11hrs 39mins

The objective is to start at sunrise and finish before sunset (yes in the same day) we must compete as a team & each section cannot be started or finished without all four team members present. So as Team captain of “Harry’s Minders” (I will explain the name) it is my job to make sure we all pull together and complete what we have started.

Harry’s Minders team is made up of the following people

Paul Shattock, Crane

James Howcroft, Vianet (Harry)

CRANE 1CRANE 2

Have you ever seen Prince Harry & James Howcroft in the same room at the same time?  No, neither have I… Just makes you wonder doesn’t it?

Some may know the other members

JO KNOTT, CRM at Crane is the Captain of Vicious & Delicious joining her is TIM WELCH from the Crane Technical helpdesk.

Golden Peroni’s is made up of Crane IT & Finance dept, captained by MANDY ROBINSON.

Spare Tyres are made up of Crane Production & Spares, captained by DAVID HARVEY

WTF (Where’s The Finish?) captained by PAUL OLDEN from Crane Engineering and includes friends and family.

So there are twenty hearty souls all training hard, all of mixed abilities and some have never done anything like this before. Some of the team members have invested in new state of the art bikes and all the gear to go with it. We are all out training hard evenings, weekends and some have even started to cycle to work.

We are not asking you to come and cycle with us or climb and canoe, we just need some support with the fund raising from all of our kind hearted vending colleagues.  Anything helps no matter what the value.

I have included the fundraising site here for you to donate any money & don’t forget if you donate as a company you can claim tax relief between 10 – 30% of the gross donation. If you have any special requests like a T shirt with your Company name to be worn by an individual or a full team then I can be contacted at the email address below.
