As the Social Media Queen (amongst other titles) for Planet Vending, I am always on the look out for good practice in social media engagement. I’ve sometimes despaired at the lack of commitment and desire to use ‘new-fangled’ distribution within our industry. (This attitude is not just within Vending, it is a common issue with all business sectors.)
The present and future of effective communication is undoubtedly on line, with its immediacy and, it has to be said, also its shelf life! Once it goes on line, it tends to stay there. There are undoubtedly those who still enjoy a magazine to read, I do too, however for up to the minute news and views, we should all be ‘on it’, whatever ‘it’ is today!
It’s clear that there has been a recent sea change however and there are a few Vending Operators who stand out as being real proponents of social media and I think that they deserve to be named and applauded.
First to impress is Broderick’s – not named National Vending Operator of the Year for nothing! The whole team gather round every piece of news, every picture, and tweet, share, follow and generate a following that Justin Bieber or Wayne Rooney would be proud of… (Well maybe not quite…)
The recent campaign of sharing and following the BigBlueCups is brilliant. In recent days we’ve seen snaps from the Alps, from Bangkok, and Dubai. I foresee that this one will go viral.
Also up there is Excel Vending, who has embraced blog writing, sharing with Linked In, on line and of course with our own Planet Vending. They run competitions on Twitter and Facebook and they actually announce the winners (a rarity in itself!).
FMF in Ireland do a great job too, I only know them from their Facebook page – so that works then doesn’t it?
Before the rest of you complain that I haven’t mentioned you… I know many more are doing a good job too – but the above are doing an EXCEPTIONAL job. Follow them and find out how. Share their Best Practice and you too may be best vending operator in your category!
