Becktech Brings a BRITA Professional Filter Recycling Hub to Chichester

Becktech : In a move to promote packaging sustainability, vending machine component supplier Becktech has become the third UK company to launch a BRITA Professional Filter recycling hub. The new facility is Becktech HQ in Chichester.

It’s another feather in the cap for BRITA, a company that’s always been focused on reducing both the waste it generates and its overall impact on the environmental. Back in 1992, BRITA became the first company in the industry to establish a recycling programme for used cartridges. Today, a refined in-house process enables the separation of the ion exchange resin from the activated carbon so it can be re-used. The plastic is broken down and repurposed for use in other industries.

Staying on the subject of head gear, hats off to Becktech: Each additional BRITA Professional Filter recycling hub means that more spent filters will be re-used. Give them back, BRITA will sort them out. Simples.

‘Working with sustainable suppliers is hugely important to us’, said Rob Webb, the Becktech MD, ‘and has helped us achieve our ISO14001 accreditation. We’re delighted to be able to facilitate the recycling of BRITA Professional filter cartridges at Becktech HQ to help our customers reduce their waste and fuel the circular economy.’

(By the way: you don’t need to be a Becktech customer to use the new facility. Just take your used BRITA Professional cartridges down to Terminus Road, Chichester PO19 8DW and drop them off drop – no names, no pack drill – and hey presto, you’ve done your bit).

‘We’re delivering on our commitments to sustainability and the environment’, Steve Buckmaster, BRITA Professional’s UK Director of Sales, added. He’s got a point: on top of ‘industry’ facilities such as the one at Becktech, BRITA has over 1,900 recycling points across the UK, in supermarkets, high-street stores and independent shops.’

‘We’re proud to work with partners that support our pledge to reduce, reuse and recycle as much of what we produce as possible’, Steve said.

How about you? Could your premises host a BRITA Professional Filter recycling hub?
