If there was a VIA award for ‘best invite to AVEX’ Vendman would surely walk it.
Planet Vending had a sneak preview yesterday of a song called ‘Vendman’s Turning Twenty’, which has been used in the company’s e-mail AVEX invitation, as previously reported.
Whilst we at PV are all for a bit of light relief – we’re always up for a sing-song here – it is truly hard to like this song. To our untutored ears it sounds like a proper dirge; more like a funeral song than a birthday song.
Apparently, Rob Little, (Vendman MD), had nothing at all to do with the song’s production. It just turned up in his in-tray from ‘an Admirer’. We don’t think he’s a fan, either. He told us: ‘it seems to have been sung by elderly people, after drink has been taken.’ Which is about right, in our view. However, (and fair play to Vendman for sharing it with PV), it gave us quite a chuckle and we think you’ll chuckle, too. We particularly admire the way the word ‘journeys’ is rhymed with (many happy) returneys.
Ouch.
We love the name of the band too: ‘Miles Too-Many & The Wasted Journeys.’
We promised to publish a link to the song, hosted on the group’s Soundcloud page when it ‘went public’ and we’re as good as our word.

You can make up your own mind. But, think on: you have been warned…
