Options Management in partnership with its sister company Recycling Options (www.recycling-options.com) have introduced a new service package for customers to install, service and maintain automatic recycling machines, collect recovered materials, process them and guarantee that they are recycled by leading industry plants across the UK.
World Class Recycling Equipment
These machines are produced by a world class manufacturer, Envipco, who currently run over 8,000 units across the US. In the UK these are specifically designed to tackle the ‘Away from Home’ litter problems in public places, recovering cans, plastic and glass bottles and paper and plastic cups.
Recycling Adds Value
Each machine complements and adds value to any vending scenario, indoors or outside. They receive the containers, read bar codes, separate each item according to its material and either crush or shred containers to reduce volume before storing material (recyclate) within the machine. This operation takes less than two seconds for each can, bottle or cup!
Recycling Rewarded
Individual items are recorded by type and weight and a receipt, token or money is issued on request, at the press of a button. SMARTcard systems are also available in support of incentive programmes that encourage consumer behaviour change and increase recycling.
Perfect Partner for Vending
Waste cannot be isolated from any food and drink service. Vending machine operations are by their nature, automatic, making savings on labour costs. Our service offers similar benefits by providing automatic recovery and recycling of used containers on site. Other savings will be evident for many customers with litter problems. Reduction in skip hire charges, less unsightly bins around the location and a cleaner, healthier environment conducive with attractive refreshment vending. The value of making such a contribution to the local environment should not be dismissed as it will enhance the industry’s producer responsibility image and make food and drink vending facilities more pleasant for the consumer.
Working with Industry
This service aims to complement the work of existing industry schemes such as Save-a-Cup, Novelis (formerly Alcan), Recoup (plastic bottles) and Corus (steel cans). Its development in the UK will also be of interest to local authorities and national agencies, particularly those charged with supporting innovation in recovery and recycling. Politically, of course, this initiative will put the vending sector and brandowners ahead of others by increasing their involvement in recovery and recycling of their used products.
A Focus on Cups
Whilst many large organisations and locations will accommodate our automatic recycling machines we have also developed solutions for the smaller businesses with an emphasis on cup recycling. This includes the ‘Eco-Verter’ plastic and paper cup collector, a low-cost entry to recycling. This is an automated machine recovers used cups, sleeves them, stores them whilst offering customers a token or monetary reward for recycling.
Stylish Automatic Recycling Equipment
The machine is slim and elegant and sits neatly with many full size hot drinks vending machines.
One such partnership is with Pour Moi, offering coffee shop quality drinks in 12oz cups installed as static or fully managed units. These are branded to complement the ethos of Pour Moi and recycling, looking impressive whilst adding ‘green’ values to services provided.
Alternatively the Eco-Verter may be located in any refreshment area, canteen or vending bank acting as a central recovery point for used cups.
Rewarding Recycling
Holding up to 2,500 sleeved cups, each machine initiates a reward system once cups are recognised by censors, issuing a token or coin for the customer. Using this, promotional options may provide random free drinks, BOGOF or a straight rebate on new purchases.
Convenient and Clean
Experience shows that organisations should be able to reduce the number of conventional litter bins, saving space and management time for many locations. Once the Eco-Verter is installed, staff or visitors will want to dispose of their used cups centrally, for the reward, even if this means a short walk. By creating a focus point, waste or litter in adjacent areas will also be reduced.
